Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, represented by the Honourable Commissioner Borno State Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports Development and Poverty Alleviation, Comrade Saina Buba on Monday afternoon, gave the El Kanemi Warriors Football Club players and the technical crew a rousing welcome on their arrival form Sokoto Premier League match, where they won the match which earned them a promotion to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
The commissioner who led other top management staff of the ministry, El Kanemi Warriors supporters club and sport lovers to give the team a dignified reception where the motorcade conveying the players and technical crew moved round Maiduguri city to acknowledge cheers and pleasantries from the people, could not hide his joy and happiness
Addressing supporters who converged shortly after the motorcade at the El Kanemi Warriors Stadium Maiduguri, the State Commissioner of Sports, Comrade Saina Buba said the governor would have loved to receive the players personally, but couldn’t due to his official engagements outside the state.
He said that Zulum asked him to stand in for him and promised to see them when he is back to town at a later date.
Meanwhile, he said the governor extends his appreciation to the players, technical team and all other stakeholders who made it possible for the team to make it to the premier league.
