Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been praised by Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council for approving a bailout fund for the payment of  retirees, including those of Lagos Television (LTV), Radio Lagos and Eko FM.

The union urged the governor to use his good office to ensure prompt release of the money which had been approved since March 2022.

The Lagos-based journalists expressed the view in a communique issued at the end of their August 2022 congress.

The union condemned the action of the State’s Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) for impounding vehicles not registered in Lagos State, even though they were registered in other states.

The journalists pointed out that Nigeria is a federation with 36 states, including Lagos State, and, therefore, said that “Lagos could not but recognise vehicles registered in other states.”

The congress advised journalists in the state who usually patronise commercial motorcyclists popularly known as okada riders to use alternative means of commuting within local government areas in Lagos State where the use of okada as a means of public transportation has been prohibited.
