*Says gov’s wife enrolls pregnant women, sickle cell warriors, others

In a bid to ensure quality healthcare delivery in the state, Ebonyi State Health Insurance Scheme (EBSHIA) has said that it has enrolled over 51,871 Ebonyians, including pregnant women, sickle cell warriors, among others across the 13 local government areas of the state.
The Executive Secretary of EBSHIA in Ebonyi State, Dr.Divine Igwe made this known to newsmen during the enrollment of pregnant women in Ohaukwu LGA, stating that the agency through the support of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has enrolled state civil servants, sickle cell warriors, over 4,000 women, among others have been enrolled into the scheme in order to reduce the high cost of medical treatment for an average Ebonyian.
According Dr.Igwe, EBSHIA is for health financing which makes it easier for people to access medical care at a very low cost, adding that maternal mortality has been reduced drastically in Ebonyi State following the increase in enrollment of Ebonyians.
Dr. Igwe used the opportunity to appreciate the unimaginable support of governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in ensuring quality healthcare delivery across the 13 LGAs of Ebonyi State.
He added that greater part of Governor Nwifuru’s charter of needs have been channeled into heathcare delivery for the wellbeing of Ebonyians.
Some of the beneficiaries like Mr. Christopher Chukwu from Ohaozara LGA, expressed joy over the intervention of EBSHIA in his wife’s safe delivery, saying that he will name his child after the wife of the governor, Mrs. Maudline Nwifuru, while Mrs. Chukwuka Promise from Ishielu, Mrs. Mgbebu Uchenna from Ikwo, among other pregnant women, testified that EBSHIA under Dr. Divine Igwe has impacted positively in their lives as all their medical bills after delivery, were totally cleared by the agency as a result of their enrollment.
They prayed for God to bless Governor Francis Nwifuru and his wife for supporting EBSHIA to save many lives in Ebonyi State.
Earlier in her address during the grand finale of the enrollment at Ohaukwu LGA, the wife of the governor, Mrs. Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru stated that she will do everything possible to ensure that greater part of Ebonyians are enrolled into EBSHIA to ensure quality healthcare delivery for all.
The wife of the governor who was represented by Dr. Nkechi Echeagu commended all the chairpersons in all the council areas for their commitment and dedication to ensure that rural women are enrolled in the system.
She also pledged to give more support in order to make it easier to access of their healthcare system and treatment in Ebonyi State.
