*Demands arrest of Ihedioha  over alleged involvement in Imo killings

By; AMOS TAUNA, Kaduna

The Coalition of Arewa Civil Society Groups (CACSG), has called on the federal government to deploy personnel to Imo State and other states in the South East, to curb the incessant killings in the zone in recent years.

Briefing newsmen in Kaduna on Sunday, the chairman of CACSG, Aliyu Muhammad Sani, alleged, “It is more worrisome why the security agencies have not moved in to arrest, interrogate and prosecute Emeka Ihedioha for the wanton killings and destruction in the state since 2020 when he lost power.

“Anytime he makes reference to the Supreme Court judgement that ousted him, he invariably justifies why he has been sponsoring the spare of violence in the state,” the group alleged.

He further alleged that he (Emeka Ihedioha) is still laying claim to the fraudulent victory that saw him illegally occupying Imo Government House for six months, stressing that time has come for the police to arrest all those involved in the electoral heist of 2019 and let them face the law.

The chairman opined that if Ihedioha had been put behind bars for stealing the mandate of the governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, perhaps, the orgy of violence would have been avoided.

Aliyu called on the Inspector General of Police to, without further delays, arrest and prosecute Emeka Ihedioha for the electoral fraud of 2019 and for allegedly sponsoring insecurity in the state since 2020.

He alleged, “It is quite unfortunate that a man consumed by vaulting ambition has been allowed to destroy a state just to satisfy his political whims and caprices.  He has also destroyed the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state because he wants to be the governorship candidate of the party for three consecutive times as if it is his birth right. Such an insensitive and greedy man is in no position to accuse Uzodimma of non performance.”

He stated that in spite of politically contrived insecurity in the state, Governor Hope Uzodinma  has confounded his critics with his performance where Ihedioha failed to build a single road in six months, saying that Governor Uzodimma has built more roads in three years including other signature projects in education, health, agriculture and urban renewal and youth empowerment.
