Defending Champions, Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State have won the the 7th edition of the Malam Nasir el-Rufai Peace and Unity Cup, winning it back-to-back.
The match ended goal less at the.end of regulation time and had to be decided through a penalty kick which ended 4:2 in favour of the defending champions.
Both teams impressed spectators through out the 90 minutes of play even though they were unable to score any goal at regulation time.
Earlier in the third place match between Soba LG and Kachia LG, it ended 2:0 I’m.favour of the soba team.
The competition which is organized by the Main Samari youth soccer Association and the finals played at the township stadium had Commissioners of Sports Development. Hon. Idris Samaila Nyam who represented the Governor, Commisisoner of Local Governent Affairs, Dr. Shehu Usman Makarfi and Kaduna State Football Association (FA) Chairman, Hon. Kassim Sherreef
Local Governent chairmen who witnessed the finals are Hon. Abubakar Buba, Chairman Lere Iocal government and ALGON Chairman. Kaduna State, chairman of Kachia, vice chairmen of Igabi and Kudan local governments.
Speaking at the end of the match, representative of the governor, Hon. Hyam and his local government counterpart Dr. Makarfi and FA Chairman commended the organizer of the competition and the team spirit of all the 23 local government areas that participated.
On his part, the President Maisamari Youth Soccer Association, Hon. Babami Danlami said it was quite fulfilling that his Association could bring together teams from the 23 local government areas of the state and the competition ended in praises.
Personalities who graced the finals were decorated with medals while winners also went home with giant trophies and medals.
