The Legislative Arm of Nasarawa Eggon LGA of Nasarawa State has suspended a Councilor, Honourable Alidzi Akolo Yohanna for three months for spreading fake news of planned impeachment of the council chairman Honourable Danlami Idris.
Yohanna, who represents Igga Burum-Burum electoral ward was suspended over what was term as gross misconduct and was also relieved of his position as Chief Whip of the House.
Speaker Amos W. Kigbu announced this during sitting of the House in Nasarawa Eggon, Nasarawa Eggon LGA of the state.
Kigbu said the Councilor was suspended for spreading fake news on plots to impeach the council Chairman, Hon. Danlami Idris (Odasco).
This, the Speaker said, constitutes an act of gross misconduct, leading to his suspension in order to serve as deterrent to other Members of the House.
The suspension followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Bala Agunji and seconded by Hon. Kasimu Umar Madaki (APC, Mada Station).
Similarly, the House confirmed Hon. Obadiah Sunday Enga (APC, Alushi/Ginda) as the new Chief Whip.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach the suspended Councilor for comments proved abortive at press time.
