The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, walked journalists out from covering the consultative meeting held with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo at Finotel Hotel in Awka.
Osinbajo was in the state capital to consult with the party delegates and other stakeholders on his ambition to run for presidential election come 2023 on APC platform.
The Vice President was earlier received at the Anambra State international Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri by the governor, Chukwuma Soludo, who also offered him a brief reception at the governor’s lodge.
Though journalists were already seated for the occasion, immediately the VP walked into the scene of the event in Awka, a party official, Hon. Benchuks Nwosu picked a microphone and instructed journalists in the hall to take pictures and walk out as the event was only for the party.
His words, “All journalists in this hall should take pictures and walk out. Please, move forward, take pictures and leave. We want to discuss party affairs. You can wait outside for the Vice President. We want only the party delegates and stakeholders in the hall. He can address you when we are through.”
However, Osinbanjo failed to address or take questions from journalists as he, at the end of the meeting immediately entered his vehicle and the convoy zoomed off to Enugu with his entourage.
The state Chairman of APC, Chief Basil Ejidike also did not speak to journalists regarding the outcome of the meeting, as he went into another meeting.
Meanwhile, some unconfirmed reports claimed that the Vice President during the interaction with his party stalwarts in the state, disclosed that he has learnt the national policy and Presidential job for seven years and is well informed on how to hit the ground running once elected.
According to the party source in the meeting, Osinbajo assured that if elected, his administration would reposition Nigeria, as well as prioritize recruitment of more defense officers, training and more funding of indigenous security equipment production companies to improve the security.
