Chief Burki Calls On Spirited Individuals To Assist School For  Deaf

 *Chides Plateau  Govt for not doing enough

The Executive Director, Beautiful Gate Handicap Peoples Center, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan has called on public spirited individuals to come to the aide of students of the School for the Deaf, Bassa LGA. 

He made this appeal during a visit to the school on Saturday  March  25, 2023, to donate food items provided by the Beautiful Gate Handicap Peoples Center, in conjunction with the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Her Excellency, Dame Pauline Tallen.

According to Chief Burki, the intervention of the Beautiful Gate Handicap Peoples Center and the Honourable Minister for Women Affairs, became necessary,  following his visit to the school, where he discovered that the students who were preparing for exams were complaining of shortage food supply and hunger.

Chief Burki then reached out to the Honourable Minister for Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, who within 24 hours, collaborated with himself and the Beautiful Gate
Handicap Peoples Center to provide 10 bags of beans, two bags of sugar, five  bags of rice, 20 bags of garri, 20 bags of guinea corn, 30 bags of maize, nine  cartons of seasoning, five bags of salt, five units of 25 liter of palm oil, a deep freezer, a grinding machine, a sowing machine and cutlasses.

Chief Burki chided the Plateau State Government for not doing enough to ameliorate the plight of students of the School for the Deaf within the last eight years.

He urged the incoming administration to prioritize the schools of persons living with special needs, especially the School for the Deaf.

He used the opportunity to call on  public spirited individuals to adopt at least one student of the School for the Def in order to ensure that their welfare is properly taken  care of.

Speaking at the  event where the items were presented to the school, representative of the Principal of the School for the Deaf, Mr Tasong Goma, appreciated the kindness of both the Beautiful Gate Handicap Peoples Center and the Honourable Minister for Women Affairs who have shown their compassion for humanity.

Joy Sunday and Zumnan Usaini, Head Girl and Head Boy of the school respectively, too turns to also appreciate the gesture and prayed that God will replenish those who have given to their welfare.

The Bassa Area Director of the Ministry of Education, Mrs Esther Selbol Nandang said that the ministry has always been supportive of donations to support their ongoing efforts in providing a conducive learning environment for the students to excell in their academic pursuits.

The students were physically excited and grateful for he kindness of Chief Burki and Her Excellency Dame Pauline Tallen. They offered prayers for them both.
