The Chairman of Committee of Pro-Chancellors  of state owned universities in Nigeria, Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN) has tasked Nigerians to support any policy capable of reviving the country’s economy, as well as addressing inflation, corruption and fraud.

Mallam Alli (SAN) said this in Ibadan on Saturday, while speaking with journalists at the turbaning ceremony of his mother, Alhaja Taibat Ali as the Iya Adini Musulumi of CAREW Central Mosque.

The legal luminary pointed out that the time has come for Nigerians to give support to “any policy that will help us to revive our economy, address inflation, corruption and fraud

Commenting on the 2023 general elections, Mallam Alli said he is

optimistic that 2023 elections would hold peacefully

He stressed that though religious leaders might not have specific role in the constitution because of the diverse religious believes in the country, but should contribute their quota towards peaceful elections.

“If you provide for the Muslim in the constitution, you provide for the Christians, and even the traditional worshippers. For us as  citizens, we must behave in accordance to the tenets of our religion, let’s be faithful to our faith, and Nigeria will be better.” He advised.

A former Professor of Islamic studies at the University of Ibadan, (UI) Prof Dawud Noibi while speaking at the   ceremony, charged all religious leaders (Muslim and Christian), in Nigeria, to come together and find ways of guiding political gladiators to have peaceful and credible polls in the 2023 general elections.

Prof Noibi declared that this time around, political leaders need to lead the nation in such a way that it would overcome challenges that have been facing it for a long time, adding that this became necessary, in view of the need to have free, fair and credible polls.

The Islamic scholar pointed out that the role of religious leaders towards development of any nation cannot be over emphasized as there is no other way this can be done except for the political leaders and gladiators to follow the guidance of the Bible and Quran, saying, ” it is only by doing this that Nigeria can have peaceful and progressive nation”.

Prof Noibi then prayed for peace to reign before, during and after the 2023 general elections,  to ensure a better future for Nigeria and it’s citizens.

Dignitaries at the turbaning ceremony included, Dr. Wale Babalakin, Prof Isiaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar; Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Chief Imam of Ilorin, Chief Imam of Ifetedo, judges, SANs and others.
