Residents of Ungwan Romi, a suburb in Kaduna metropolis have appealed to the state government to urgently fix bad roads in the area to ease movement of people and goods.

A cross section of inhabitants of the area who spoke to our correspondent expressed disappointment and dismay over the bad and deteriorating state of most roads within the settlement.

A shop owner who simply identified himself as Bulus Kogi said the area lacks access roads, adding that most streets were not tarred, which he noted, has made movement of people very difficult.

A house owner, John Guga while lamenting the poor state of roads in the Romi Area, stated that  several efforts to attract development to the settlement through federal and state representatives were unsuccessful.

” It has not been easy having to live with this kind of situation on daily basis despite having a government which can fix it within the twinkle of an eye.

” We don’t have good roads in virtually all Romi Area which has made life difficult for us.

” Most people have to relocate due to bad condition of road infrastructure particularly in the rainy season.

” We are earnestly appealing to the state government under the present administration to look into our situation which calls for urgent attention, ” he said.

A tricycle operator also lamented the deteriorating state of roads in virtually all the area, saying business in the area has been badly affected with operators avoiding the suburb.

” We have been contending with this problem of bad roads for so long with no relief at sight.

” It seems government whose core duty should be provision of infrastructure, including good roads have abandoned their basic job, leaving us to our fate.

” We live in Romi but prefer to take our tricycles elsewhere where roads are good, operate and come back home  after sunset.

” We are calling on Governor Nasiru el-Rufai to kindly look into our predicament and fix our roads, ” Moses Mai Keke NAPEP prayed.
