The Bachama Community in Zaria has celebrated the retirement of one of theirs, Professor Ambrose Alikidon Voh (Jnr) a Professor of Animal Production/Artificial Insemination. with NAPRI/ABU Zaria.
Professor Voh (Jnr) started his journey 47 years ago in Zaria (5 years as a Veterinary student and 42 years as a staff of NAPRI Shika/ABU has come to an end with Thanksgiving and Valedictory (Farewell) Service.
Out of the 70 years of his life, Prof. Voh spent 47 years in Zaria.
Three out of his four children were born in Zaria.
“Zaria is therefore, home for me for all intent and practical purposes,” he said.
Born on November 2, 1952 to Pa Voh Bokpah Fyemikada and Mama Lydia Bogoron Voh (nee Kireambo of Ngbablang Ward, Numan Adamawa State and spiritually
born again in May 1967 with
baptism on June 14, 1969.
Prof. Voh attended Native Authority Primary School, Numan between 1960 to 1964 and Sudan United Nation (B) Primary School, Lamurde from 1965.to 1966.
He also attended Boys’ Secondary School (BSS) Gindiri, Plateau State: (Sudan United Nation (B) 1967-1971 (O’Level) and Boys’ Secondary School (BSS): 1972-1973 (HSC).
The celebrant got admission into Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where he was from 1974 to 1979 (DVM).
He did his MSc Theriogenology and PhD (Theriogenology) in.ABU Zaria as well his Professor (Theriogenology).
The researcher’s expert work life as Veterinary Officer, Gembu Gongola State and NAPRI/ABU Zaria was spanned from 1980 to 2022 and Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) Mabushi Abuja, from 2016 to 2019.
He was on Secondment for
Dairy Research and Development Center Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, between 2020 to 2021.
He was a Commissioner of Education Adamawa State,
Chairman/State Coordinator, State Livestock Transformation Office (SLTO) National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) Yola: 2019 to date while on Sabbatical.
A dedicated servant of God, he was entrusted to be the Treasurer, ECWA Church, Shika Zaria, Treasurer, ECWA Giwa LCC, Zaria, Treasurer, ECWA Zaria DCC, Chairman, Board of Directors, ECWA Rural Development Ltd (ERD), Convener/Founder Shika Audio-Visual Evangelism (SAVE) Team and Convener, “Bwatiye Prays” Numan, Adamawa State.
Chairman/Member of many Committees at LC, LCC, DCC and GCC Levels and Chairman, Documentation Sub-Committee of the LCCN Centenary Central Working Committee in 2013.
Prof. Ambrose A. Voh Jnr has many professional/technical and non-technical publications.
His hobbies include, traveling,
Bible study, rearing animals,
watching football and basketball and teaching.
His drive/goal in life is to serve God and mankind faithfully, in word and in deed; in truth and in spirit.
While in active service, Professor A.A. Voh (Jr), a traditional title holder of (Impa Bachama) meaning the (Sarkin Dawan Bachama), was turbaned on March 23, 2013.
He is a Fellow College of Veterinary Surgeons of Nigeria (FCVSN), Fellow Institute of Administrators and Researchers of West Africa (FARWA), Chartered Fellow, Institute of Administrators and Researchers of Nigeria (CFIARN). Grand Commander of Nigerian Students (GCNS) and a Professor of Animal Reproduction (AR)/Artificial Insemination (AI).
Also, he is a Dairy Management Consultant with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Member, Agricultural Thematic Group of TETFUND Standing Committee on Research and Development, Member, TETFUND Mega Dairy Research Project, ATBU, Bauchi, Chairman and State Coordinator, State Livestock Transformation Office (SLTO) of the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) Yola Adamawa and Impa Bachama of Bachama Kingdom.

Professor Voh (Jnr) has held several positions, which include, Director, Coordination of Technical Research (D-CTR), Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN). Acting Excecutive Secretary (Ag ES), Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN). Executive Director National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) ABU Shika Zaria, Head, Artificial Insemination Unit NAPRI/ABU Shika Zaria.
Others are Project Officer of World Bank-assisted National Agricultural Research Project (NARP) NAPRI/ABU Shika Zaria.
Programme Leader, Dairy Research Programme, NAPRI/ABU Shika Zaria.
A seasoned Animal Agricultural Researcher, An Experienced Animal Agricultural Administrator and a committed Community mobilizer and worker.
