By: AUSTINE EMMANUEL, Kaduna

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Honourable Ahmad Umar has called on the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and other security chiefs to step up their game and bring lasting solution to the security challenges in Northern Nigeria.

Hon. Umar who made the call in Kaduna yesterday, in his Sallah message, said security remains one of the  areas that the government of President Bola Tinubu needs to pay much attention.

He said that with the appointment of security chiefs from Northern Nigeria, whose people have suffered in the hands of bandits and other terrorist groups, they have no  right to complain about insecurity and therefore,  must do everything humanly possible to secure the region which has become a hub of killings and kidnappings.

Umar who described Tinubu as an ‘action president ‘, said he is the best choice Nigerians  made from the just concluded 2023 general elections, adding that he has done very well, especially in the area of appointments, barely one month in office.

Hon. Umar also commended the courage of President Tinubu for removing the petroleum subsidy, saying that Nigeria cannot continue to be a father Christmas to other countries forever.

The philanthropist further reiterated that without doubt, the hope of Nigerians has been rekindled since Tinubu took over office, considering his body language in the quest to run an inclusive government regardless of ethnicity, religious and other regional sentiments.

He expressed optimism that with the steps so far from the new president, youth will constitute most of his cabinet members, adding that the president during his campaign, promised youth inclusiveness and without any doubt, most of the appointees are youth.

Umar reiterated that, “we cannot use politicians to change this country. All we need are technocrats who can offer expertise and administrative decision for national growth.”

It would be recalled that President Tinubu  appointed the pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu from Adamawa State as the NSA, AVM Hassan Abubakar from Kano as Chief of Air Staff and Maj. Gen Chris Musa from Kaduna State as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
