An antiquity protection officer is a staff of the museum that is saddled with the responsibility of protecting the museum and its property.

The antiquity protection officer’s main duties in the museum include the following,

They ensure the museum staff and the public (visitors) adhere to the rules of security of the museum.

They know how to handle all incidents ranging from danger or emergencies, fire, flood and evacuation etc.

Antiquities protection officer carries prevents overcrowding and restraining of visitors to certain areas of special exhibits such as gallery and storage.

They handle duties of regular site checking of the gallery and write daily report on the state and condition of objects and the museum as a whole.

They equally inspect vehicles that visit the museum and control key movements in and out of the museum.

Antiquities protection officer equally protects the lives of the museum staff and other property in addition to its collections.

In conclusion therefore, the antiquity protection unit is a vital unit of the museum that needs proper care and people with sound educational background to be able to carry out the duty  by training and workshops to improve on their careers.
