Tourism: Katsîna Govt Vows To Revive Cultural Festivals

Katsina State Government will

 revive the state’s cultural traditions, specifically the famed “Hawan Durbar” aimed at re-establishing Katsina as a leading tourist destination and cultural hub in the country.

The State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda disclosed this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed during the Eid-el-Fitr “Hawan Bariki” ceremony held on Thursday at the Old Katsina Government House. 

Governor Dikko Radda at event was joined by the Bulgarian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Yanko Yordanov. 

Governor Radda said as part of efforts to revitalize Katsina’s cultural legacy  the state government had enlist the service of cultural specialists to help revamp and elevate the durbar festivities for national recognition.

He directed that, henceforth, all the district and village heads are to join the Emirs on horseback in Sallah procession.urging them to stop giving excuses and shying away from the practice he describes as a “cornerstone of the state’s cultural heritage.”

Governor Dikko Radda, fondly recalled how Katsina in time past attracted a multitude of foreign visitors, particularly during Sallah festivities. lamenting that, the decline in such activities in recent years.

He reiterated his unwavering 

support to the welfare of residents. this he said prompted the recent introduction of foreign scholarships and special pilot schools across the state’s three senatorial zones.

The candidates he said must only be admitted after undergoing rigorous examinations to assess their academic potentials. 

Speaking earlier, Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman urged affluent Muslims to prioritise philanthropy and support the less privilege and warned against the transient nature of worldly wealth, drawing their attention to  the importance of charitable deeds in the hereafter.

Alhaji Kabir Usman thanked the Bulgarian Ambassador, Mr Yanko Yordanov for accepting the invitation at short notice.

had earlier led Governor Radda and the visiting Bulgarian Ambassador, Mr Yordanov to witness a special cultural dance and musical performance at the renowned Gidan Ganye Rest House, Katsina.

The Emir also expressed gratitude for Governor Radda’s support to the state’s traditional institution. stressing the significance of collaboration between the state government and the traditional institution in fostering unity and development within Katsina State.
