Anambra Pastor Confesses To Lifting Cannabis, Says, Its For Crusade In Kenya

The General Overseer of Christ Living Hope Church, Rev. Ugochukwu Emmanuel Ekwem, has confessed that he packed 54 wraps of cannabis on his body for use during his three weeks crusade in Kenya.

The priest who was arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with 54 wraps of drugs wrapped around his body is said to head the headquarters of his church in Isuanaocha, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The pastor was nabbed on Monday, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State, while on his way to a three-week crusade in Nairobi, Kenya.

Confirming the arrest in a statement on Sunday, NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi said, “Ugochukwu who has his church headquarters in Isuaniocha, Mgbakwu Road, Awka area of Anambra State and two other branches in Lagos and Abuja, was arrested during the outward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airlines flight to Nairobi via Addis Ababa.

“When tested, the 54 wraps proved positive to cannabis. The clergyman confessed during preliminary interview that he packed that quantity of illicit substance on his body to use during his three weeks crusade in Kenya.”
