Senator Adamu Aliero (APC- Kebbi Central) on Saturday consulted with his supporters, sought for their opinion for possible defection from All Progressives Congress (APC) to another political party.

Addressing his loyalists at Safar Guest Inn, Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, Aliero said he has endured enough humiliation from the present state governor.

Reports have it that Aliero, a two-term governor of Kebbi State, ex-Minister of the Federal Capital Terottery (FCT) and a serving Senator, held a meeting with representatives of his loyalists drawn from across the state.

The lawmaker lamented that the recent gubernatorial primaries conducted in the state, where the Senate Leader, Dr Yahaya Abdullahi scored zero votes remain a testimony that there was no equity, justice and fair play in the entire process.

He said: “I decided that we should consult before taking any decision, we cannot decide without meeting you, discussing with you and dialoguing with you to find solution to the present predicament we are facing and we are not saying that once we consult you we will take a decision, no.

“You too, you are expected to go back to your respective local governments, consult with ward and unit chairmen and our teaming supporters, then come back and tell us the next line of action.

“The party at the national level had made frantic efforts to reconcile my faction and that of the governor but all these efforts went in vein.”

He said they waited for good eight months, unfortunately nothing was forthcoming, saying that all efforts by the national headquarters including that of the northwest governors to convince the governor to go into dialogue with them towards a common consensus yielded no fruitful result.

Aliero continued: “Therefore, we have no choice rather than to come and tell you what happened.”

According to him, the ward congresses in Kebbi were marred by irregularities, adding that the congresses were not done in conformity with party’s guidelines given by the leadership from headquarters and it was not in line with constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Aliero lauded the efforts of he current APC chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, who also got involved in th e matter and made a lot of efforts to ensure that there was peace and harmony in Kebbi but the governor refused to cooperate.

The lawmaker said the new party chairman was able to reconciled political leaders in Zamfara, Gombe, Sokoto and partial reconcilation in Kano but in Kebbi nothing had been done, assuring that they had no option than to come and seek advice from their teaming supporters, because they didn’t want to take any decision alone.

This, he said, would give his teaming supporters the opportunity to go back home and deliberate on the lingering issue, so that they could suggest next line of action.
