Akwa Ibom Govt Spends N100bn On  77 Roads

The Akwa Ibom State Government had  said that  it has disbursed over N100 billion on the construction of 77 road projects in the state since the inception on May 29, 2023

Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong who disclosed this after the State Executive Council (Exco) meeting last Thursday, gave a breakdown of the 77 roads as 36 new roads initiated by the current administration while 41 roads were inherited from the immediate past administration.

Comrade also said that the Exco has also approved the development of ARISE Park and the construction of tourist recreational center with road networks and pedestrian bridge in Uyo, the state capital.

He added that the Exco has approved the execution of water projects in 11 communities across the state to guarantee access to portable water supply for the benefiting communities.

Also decided by the Exco according to the Information Commissioner was the commissioning of 2 Models schools to wit: Christ the King School and Ewet Primary School fixed for May 7, 2024.where pupils will be given free School bags, shoes, and uniforms.

He said the Exco which had non-statutory members in attendance at the first instance was presided over by the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno who granted assent to two bills recently passed by the State House of Assembly.

These are Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency establishment Bill and Akwa Ibom State Infrastructure and Asset Management and Maintenance Agency Bill. Comrade Ememobong stated.
