46-yr Old  Patient Solicits N15m  For Kidney Transplant

A 46 years old Tijjani Lawan Mohammed, a kidney patient at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital has appealed to the  Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum and other privileged individuals to assist and pay his medical bills for kidney transplant.

A medical letter addressed to the Governor Zulum through the Commissioner of Health, signed by the Consultant Nephrologist and Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Professor Ibrahim Summate and M. B. Sandabe respectively,  said that Tijjani Lawan Mohammed is a 46 years old male with hospital number 424936.

The letter reads, “The above named is a patient under our care. He is known Hypertensive Diagnosed with End stage renal  disease (ESRSD) undergoing hemodialysis treatment. Hemodialysis is an expensive medical treatment and confers only temporary relief symptoms and sign, and unfortunately has to continue as a life treatment except those that had kidney transplant surgery.”

The hospital said, “Kidney transplant offers a life long solution and better quality of life and it costs almost Fifteen million naira (N15 million) only. I therefore, recommend kidney transplant for the patient. 

“You may wish to assist him Sir, to have the kidney transplant surgery done, ”  the hospital solicited.

In a brief chat with newsmen on his hospital bed, Mohammed pleaded with the governor and other privileged individuals to help him by paying the bills to enable him undergoes the surgery transplant.
