The Commissioner of Police Taraba State command Mr Yakubu Babas has urged officers and men of the command to rise above indiscipline and cowardice to give the country the needed security coverage.
He gave the advise while decorating 48 officers who have been promoted by the police service commission in his office, Tuesday.
The police commissioner also asked the officers who were promoted to see their promotion as a call to more responsibility and to adhere more strictly to ethical and professional standards guiding the force.
Mr Yakubu Babas said that though the number of police officer in the country was grossly inadequate but however if the ones on ground can shun vices such as indiscipline, cowardice, laziness and live up to the set standards, the public would have no choice but to respect them and the force as a whole.
“It is with great joy and a deep sense of fulfillment that I decorate forty eight officers of this command who have been promoted to various ranks by the police service commission on the recommendation of the Inspector General of police” the police commissioner said.
He reminded the officers promoted to realize that their elevation was for them to be more dedicated to the service and make the police force proud through selfless service.
“The force would be more effective and respected if you all adhere to the set standards and ethical provisions. This, you must all do with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment, for the common good of the nation and for a more secured Nigeria,” Babas said.
