Legal luminary, Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN) on Thursday presented WAEC and NECO examinations scholarships to 50 final year indigent students of Ibadan Boys High School, Ibadan.

Speaking at the presentation held at the school’s hall at Oke Bola area of Ibadan, Mallam Ali asked parents to do more ” in financing the education of their children and stop excessive spending on social events like burials”.

The legal luminary also charged the Oyo state government not to relent “in its giant stride to place education in its giant stride to place education in its rightful place as the bedrock of a progressive and successful society, more funding is needed”.

Mallam Ali stressed that the scholarship for the 50 students was been carried out by the   Yusuf Olaolu Ali Foundation which was registered in 2009 ” as the vehicle for the philanthropic works that are very dear and passionate to me”.

“The foundation for now is concentrating on two areas of intervention namely: Education and Health . It is in fulfilment of one of this focus, that has led to today’s ceremony in which 50 identifiable indigent final year students of this great secondary School (Ibadan Boys High school), my Alma Mater are being assisted in the full payment of their WAEC and NECO examination fees” he said.

Mallam Ali pointed out that it was glaring that “both the government at all levels and parents are no more investing as much in education as it used to be”, adding that there is now the need for ” all men and women of goodwill should make it a duty to intervene in the education sector of our society “.

He then advocated that ” old students of the various secondary schools should make it a duty to participate in the infrastructural and educational development of their old schools”.
