The Police in Lagos have arrested three additional suspects alleged to be members of the dreaded Badoo ritual killer gang in the Ikorodu area of the state.
Identified as Chibuzor Igwe, Samuel Akaeze (a.k.a Samito) and Obamoyegun Omotayo, the suspects were alleged to have invaded a compound at Alajo Close in Ipakodo area of Ikorodu where one Shakiru Yekini was murdered on 30th December 2017 at about 2.30am.
His wife and six months old baby, presently receiving treatment at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, were said to have also been inflicted with high degree of bodily injury by the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos Command, ImohimiI Edgal. made the disclosure Thursday while parading the suspects at the command headquarter.
He disclosed that one of the suspects, Chibuzor Igwe was arrested at the scene through a joint efforts of the local vigilante group and the police, adding that his confessional statement led to the arrest of other suspects.
Edgal added that a grinding stone smeared with blood stained, suspected to have used in smashing the skull of their victims at the Alajo close was recovered from them and taken to a laboratory for forensic analysis for comparison of samples of the victims/ suspects.
According to the police boss, the wife of Samuel Ameze was also arrested for allegedly serving as a pointer to the gang by providing information about where to strike to the gang.
During interrogation, Edgal stated that Chibuzor Igwe opened up on the series of killings they have carried out within Ikorodu including the operation at Alajo close Ipakodo.
” There style of operation is that they usually spray a powdery substance into the victims’s dwelling place that would make their target fall into deep sleep before smashing their skulls with agtonfing stone. Obamiyrgun Omotauo having satisfied that their victim is dead will use white handkerchief to scrub their blood for ritual purposes”, Edgal explained.
Further, he said one of the suspects Chibuzor Igwe confessed that their gang leader Obamiyegun Omotayo usually takes them to a shrine at Imosi Masan via Ijebu Ode Ogun state, where an oath will be taken before the commencement of any operation.
” The herbalist would then fortify them with charms for protection against arrest by security operatives. The native doctor also blesses the grinding stone with which they smash people’s skull” the police commissioner added.
Edgal also disclosed that the gang was responsible for the murder of one Pastor Victor of Redeemed Christian Christian Church of God last November, whose mobile phone was found on one Uche Igwe,who turned out to be a brother of one of the suspects.
