NSC is for holistic development of sports – Yakmut

The Director General, National Sports Commission, Mallam Alhassan Yakmut has disclosed that the objective of the Commission is to develop and implement sports programmes that will take Nigerian children off the streets and ensure they are better citizens.
In a statement made available to New Nigerian Sports and jointly signed by Mundi Dalhatu and Felicia Mammah on behalf of the Deputy Director Press NSC, Yakmut made this remark when he received in audience the Scrabble World Champion, Mr. Wellington Jighire, in Abuja.
The Director General who pledged total support to the Scrabble Federation, assured that the Commission will harness every opportunity to give maximum support to other sports that will equally bring glory to the nation.
He disclosed that President Muhammad Buhari will soon host all those that had made Nigerians proud including the Golden Eaglets, athletes that represented and won medals at the 11th All African Games in Brazzaville, Congo, as well as the victorious D’Tigers at the 2015 Afro Basket Championship which was held in Tunis recently.
Earlier, Suleiman Gora, President, Nigeria Scrabble Federation noted that with the feat achieved by Wellington Jighire, Nigeria did not only win World Championship on Scrabble, but won every game in the tournament.
