Niger Gets New Commissioners

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has sworn-in 17 Commissioners for the state public sector with a charge on them to hit the ground running.
Governor Sani Bello told the new appointees that there was much to be done to justify the confidence reposed in the administration in the state hence the need to girdle up and immediately commence work.
Earlier, the Governor had commended the the state legislature for the maturity it exhibited in handling some of the thorny issues which were thrown up in the course of the screening exercise of the nominees. He said the lawmakers had proved their understanding of the dynamics of leadership and politics in resolving the issues without letting sentiment to becloud them.
And while addressing the new Commissioners, Governor Bello urged them to work hard for the great task ahead in order to justify the confidence reposed in the government by members of the public.
He therefore charged them to hit the ground running in the discharge of their responsibilities in implementing government’s policies and programmes in order to achieve set objectives.
The Governor cautioned them against self seeking and vain glory pursuit saying their appointments were call to service rather than an opportunity for them to see it as avenue for self actualization.
He equally urged them to be God fearing and put service to humanity foremost in their minds. ‘’You must put the fear of God topmost in the discharge of your responsibilities‘’ just as he called for support and cooperation amongst the new Commissioners.
Governor Sani Bello reminded them to dispense responsible leadership at all times stressing that they would be held accountable for what transpired in their respective ministries. He said as heads of ministries, the government would rely on them to push through it’s ideas for change, development and progress.
He was however quick to categorically reminds them that his administration remains irrevocably resolute on it’s zero tolerance for corruption and all forms of sharp practices. ‘’We would not hesitate to show the way out to anyone found wanting’’ he warned.
Governor Sani Bello confirmed that the screening of some of the nominees by the State House of Assembly was halted due to some ‘’technical issues” which came up but assured that the issues were being addressed even as he expressed optimism that those not screened by the House would soon be cleared.
