Edo Council Polls: Owan West LGA Aspirant Vows To Make Area Sports Hub

Edo State Football Association chairman, Frank Ilaboya vowed to make Owan West local government sports hub in the state by the time he becomes the elected chairman in the council at the forthcoming council elections.
The elections into the office of chairman and councilor across the eighteen local government areas is scheduled to hold on March 3rd, 2018, and will be conducted by the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC).
The FA boss, contesting under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).
This he stated shortly after submitting is  form at the party secretariat, Benin City on Friday. Ilaboya, former chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria
(SWAN), Lagos State chapter noted that Edo State was known for sports
in Nigeria, and that the impact was a result of the visionary leadership of the late Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia been former governor of old Bendel State developed sports to higher heights that distinguished the state among others.
“I am a sports person, by the time I become Owan West council chairman, my administration will make the council a sports hub, and make sure that the youths are well harness, take care of the leadership, the women and men, that is all about it. We have to ensure that everybody in the grassroots is well recognized and appreciated.
“Believe me by the time we get to the power, these are the things that we are going to expand upon, because we discovered that the level of education in Owan West is high and to make it sports hub.
“Do not forget in those days, what made old Bendel State a toast of others was due to sports, the late Gen. Ogbemudia built games village at Afuze which became the centre of sports in Nigeria. And this is what we are going to do in the council too, because sports is my primary constituency and everybody will benefit.
“When I was coming for the election of Edo FA, you can see that there is remarkable development in Edo FA, we can see that for the first time international matches were played in Edo, we are going to host more as Super Eagles before they will leave for World Cup may likely come to Edo to play friendly match, so this are what we are going to take to the grassroots, thank God that we have the support. So by March 3rd when I will be announced as the chairman of Owan West council, I will call you all to say thank you for the support.”Ilaboya stated
