Economic recession: KDSG applauds NYSC on health access to rural communities

Wife of the Kaduna State Governor, Aisha El-Rufai on Monday applauded the NYSC scheme for providing access to health care to residents in Chikun LGA in the state.
El-Rufai said during the Flag-off of the 2nd Edition of  NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (Hird) programme at Kadaure Danhono Village, Chikun LGA, Kaduna state.
She said the programme was timely in view of the current economic hardship faced by the people and the need to enhance the health and well being of the rural dwellers.
“It is worthy of note that the NYSC scheme has repositioned herself to key into the change agenda of the present administration by partnering with government in the implementation of its key programmes and policies especially as it concerns our rural dwellers.
“This programme is also in line with he Kaduna State Government desires of providing access to quality health care to it citizens in the 255 wards of the state.
 
She urged the residents to reciprocate the gesture by maintaining peace and order so that the corps members can give them their best.
 
She reteirate the government to improving the welfare of the people of the state and pray that people will benefit from it immensely.
Also speaking, the Interim Chairman Chikun Local Government, Hadiza Yahuza call on the community to ensure proper usage of the drugs to serve the purpose they were meant for.
“I am calling on the people to be assigned to distribute the drugs to ensure that they do not divert them as anybody caught will face he wrath of the law.
Yahuza also called on government to send more security personnel to protect people at various communities as they are being harassed constantly by kidnappers and armed robbers.
She also appealled to Corps Members serving in other local government areas to emulate their colleagues in Chikun by executing one development project or the other.
 
Earlier in his Speech, the NYSC State C0ordinator Mohammed Momoh, said the NYSC -HIRD programme is part of the NYSC community development service which is aimed at making corps members contribute to the socio-economic development of their host communities.
“It is instructive to mention that the health initiative for Rural Dwellers programme is designed to contribute to the attainment of a healthy population in the country so that every citizen will have opportunity to contribute his/her own quota to the attainment of our national aspirations.
“It is an indisputable fact that a nation that desires sustainable development needs a healthy citizenry because a healthy citizen, all other things being equal is a productive citizen.
“NYSC recongnizing the importance of health in the development of a nation is utilising the expertise of corps medical personnel to take free health care services to the doorsteps of rural populace who are largely indigent to enhance their productivity.
“This is done with the support of Government, Corporate Bodies and Non- governmental Organisations.
