AHRPA President, Dr. Are Owosepe told journalists that they were in Kaduna to ascertain the truth after examining the legendary record of Inde in the Nigeria Customs Service.
Owosepe said that AHRPA is not supporting illegal acquisitions of wealth through corruption or outright looting of the national treasury by leaders but added that in investigating leaders, facts and honesty should be the watch word not induced vendetta from perceived opponents.
The AHRPA president also said that much as he is not exonerating Inde, other facts might emerge if thorough investigation is conducted into exotic cars discovered from the former Customs boss without liquid cash. He further said that the Abuja and Kaduna homes of Inde was invaded earlier and nothing incriminating was discovered but a year later, these cars were recovered from another of his house, left much to be desired. He disclosed that upon investigation by AHRPA, it was discovered that only two of the cars belonged to the embattled Customs chief.
Owosepe enumerated achievements of Inde in the Customs to include raising financial profile of the government which was not done before him in the helm of the Customs, also the Customs Academy Gwagwalada-Abuja which is more equipped than touted Brazilian Customs Academy as world best. He said that Abdullahi Inde needs to be celebrated and not vilified as it is being orchestrated.
