Zamfara NSCDC Warns Operatives  Against Misconduct During Election

The Zamfara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Muhammad Bello Mu’azu has strongly warned operatives of the command to shun any form of misconduct while on duty during the upcoming general election in the state.

He gave the warning at a one-day capacity building in preparation for the 2023 general election held at the state ministry for local government conference hall  on Thursday.

Mu’azu also appealed to the operatives of the command on the need to work based on the code of conduct for their primary assignment while covering the general elections in the state.

According to him, the call and warning was imperative,  considering the fact that peaceful election is a matter of concern, hence the need for NSCDC operatives to monitor election harmoniously to enable the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conduct hitch free polls.

“It is necessary for the NSCDC command under my watch to appeal to personnel of the command to maintain their dignity and behave based on the code of conduct of NSCDC while covering elections exercise to avoid disgracing the image of the command,” Mu’azu said 

According to him, the NSCDC act 2003 and its amendment act 2007 empowers NSCDC to carry general security duties at national assignments like general election in a good mood and conduct.

He further revealed that any misconduct during election, the officer on duty shall report the case to the commandant of the department of employee in accordance to the corps service rules. 

“Any officer found wanting during election shall be sanctioned in accordance with the provision of the law establishing the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps irrespective of his rank,” he warned. 

Commandant Mu’azu urged operatives of the command to maintain zero tolerance for corruption, be civil not aggressive, polite and approachable, exhibit due diligence and not compromise the performance of their duty on any grounds while covering the general elections. 

He said adequate security personnel of the NSCDC would  be deployed to each  polling unit during the next election in order to ensure zero tolerance for  violence across the state.

He urged senior officers of the command that participated at the capacity building to be good ambassadors in their respective local government areas and work assiduously to ensure rancour free election.
