Defence Industries Corporation Of Nigeria Officers’ Wives Association  (DICONOWA) has visited and shared food items and other essentials to orphanage homes in Kaduna as part of end of year humanitarian outreach to host communities.

Coordinator of DICONOWA, Hajiya Nafisa Tafida stated that the distribution of foodstuff and provisions was done as part of the association’s kind gesture of showing love, compassion and generosity to the vulnerable in the society so they could feel the sense of belonging in the forthcoming Christmas and New Year season.

Hajiya Tafida who is the spouse of Director-General of  DICON, Maj. General H.G. Tafida, reiterated resolve of the Officers’ wives to extend hands of generosity to the needy and less privileged members of the society.

Orphanage homes visited by the women were Jamiyyar Matan Arewa and Adonai in the heart of the state capital.

Hajiya Tafida and  members of the association also extended their visit to DICON medical facility, also located in Kaduna.

Items given to the orphanage homes included; bags of rice, beans, cartons of noodles, spaghetti, tubers of yam, red oil, groundnut oil among others.

Also in the items were diapers, towels and  wipes.

The DICON coordinator became emotional and was moved to tears at Adonai Orphanage Home, while posing for a photo session with children in the care-giving facility, promising to remember them frequently in kind gestures of the association.

In her response, President of Jamiyyar Matan Arewa, Rabi Musa Saulawa, while commending the kind gestures of Mrs. Tafida and her team, pledged to utilize the donated items strictly for the purpose they were meant for, adding that the food and other essential items would go a long way in putting smiles on the faces of kids at the centre.

Saulawa enjoined other individuals and corporate entities to emulate the generous gesture of officers’ wives, saying orphans needed to be pampered with gifts and show of love so they won’t be overwhelmed by their status.

Handler of Adonai Orphanage Centre, Pastor Samuel Oyelowo appreciated DICONOWA for remembering the orphans, particularly in the Season of showing love to the needy as enjoined on followers of Christ in the scripture.

He stated that the facility since its establishment about 28 years ago had not had any case of recording a casualty among inmates, some of whom he disclosed were university graduates through the sponsorship and efforts of the centre.

” We must appreciate people like you who have kept us rolling in our efforts to cater for these kids whose welfare and upbringing have fallen on us.

” At present, We  have 37 children in this facility, 12 are in different universities such as; Ahmadu Bello University, Bayero University, Ekiti University and Kaduna State University all on our expense.

” We ensure all children in this Home are taught one form of trade and the other so they would become useful members of the society,” he said.

Medical Director of DICON Clinic, Col. Maruf Yaya where items, ranging from mosquito nets, blankets, electrical current stabilizers, rechargeable lamps, dustbins among others were given out by the DICON Officers’ wives, was full of eulogies for the association, saying the donated items would make positive impacts and be maximally utilized.

Mrs. Tafida expressed optimism that the facility which caters for primary health needs of both civilians and military would be upgraded with DICON becoming a military industrial complex in the nearest future.

While commending Col. Yaya for what she described as a neat and superb PHC, Mrs. Tafida expressed satisfaction with  equipment and facilities present at the clinic, adding that she had no iota of doubts patients were in good and capable hands in the hospital.
