An association of Women Civil Servant’s in Jigawa State have cried out over being marginalized in the state civil service, hence calling on the Jigawa State Government to render equal opportunities to women in the state work force.
Speaking on behalf of the association, its patron, Hajiya Furaira Abdullahi said that this could be tackled through holding a strategic engagement with civil society organizations and selected citizens on advocacies for manpower gap reduction in Jigawa State Civil Service.
Abdullahi said girls are always facing issues with regards to Western education in the state due to cultural practices.
She called on the government and relevant stakeholders to put hands on deck to address the menace.
She expressed this in her presentation at a forum of Government/NGOs, among other stakeholders supported by the Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn (PER), with the funding from FCDO-themed, “Enhancing Governance and Service Delivery in Jigawa State: The Imperative of Adequate Staffing and Position of Jigawa State Civil Service For Leadership Succession and Transformation”.
The Kano and Jigawa state Team Leader, Isa Surajo said the objectives of the event was to facilitate interactive discussions with partners, civil societies, and trade unions on the state of manpower in critical sectors in Jigawa State.
Earlier in her submissions, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Yalwa Da’u commended the organizers of this great debut, and assured of passing all relevant issues discussed to Governor Badaru for prompt actions.
According to her, “we in Jigawa State, Government is trying to strike the balance of equal opportunities, rights and privileges amongst our work force as far as equity and social justice is concern.”
