Why Nestle Sponsors Milo Basketball Competition – Manager

Participating in sports enables children to learn useful lessons and imbibe values that help them to succeed in life, Category Manager for Beverages, Nestle Nigeria PLC, Mr. Olutayo Olatunji has said.

He stated the view while speaking on the second of the four series of Milo Basketball Championship Conference.

“At Milo we believe that through participation in sports children learn great and imbibe values that help them on their journey to success in life,” Olatunji explained.

He reiterated Nestle’s commitment to the development of talents and to the achievement of healthier lifestyle.

He assured that Milo Secondary School Baseball Championship will continue to provide the opportunities for development of qualities, including leadership skills, team work, perseverance, courage, self-belief and respect.

Olatunji expressed gratitude to Nestle’s partners – the Nigeria Schools Sports Federation (NSSF) and the National Collegiate Sports Foundation (NCSF) – for their support over the last 22 editions.

In a Press release titled, “Milo Basketball Championship Central Conference Ends in Ilorin as Benue and FCT Win,” Nestle wrote: “Akpor College, Gboko, Benue State and Government Secondary School, Karu, FCT have emerged champions in the girls and boys categories respectively at the Central Conference of the 22nd Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship.”

According to Nestle, in the girls category Akpor College, Gboko, Benue State defeated Queen Amina College, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna State with 35 to 31 to emerge champions.

Also, the boys of Government Secondary School, Katu, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) outclassed their counterparts, Father O’Conel Science College, Minna, Niger State by 34 to 23.
