Katsina Guber: Radda Emerges For APC, Lado For PDP

Dikko Umar Radda has emerged the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial elections in Katsina State.

He polled 506 votes out of 1,768 cast to defeat eight other contestants during the APC primaries held at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina metropolis.

Other contestants include, the former Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa who polled 443, Alhaji Abbas Masanawa (436), Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa (220 votes), the serving Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu (65 votes); and        Senator Sadiq Yar’adua got 32 votes.

 Others are:- Alhaji Faruk Jobe who got 71 votes, AIG (rtd), Abdulkarim Dauda Daura 7 votes while Alhaji Umar Tata polled 8 votes.

Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawal, the returning officer and the Chairman for the conduct of the gubernatorial primaries from the National Headquarters of the APC announced the results of the primaries.

In a related development, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke has emerged winner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Katsina State for gubernatorial position ahead of 2023 general elections.

At the end of the primaries Senator Lado polled 740 votes to defeat his closest rival Alhaji Salisu Yusuf Majigiri who scored 250 votes.

The electoral committee chairman, Mr. Chika Nwozuzu announced the result at the State Secretariat of the party in Katsina metropolis.

Other aspirants were,  Ahmed Aminu Yar’adua and Shehu Inuwa Imam who  got 53 and 44 votes respectively.

A total of 1170 delegates drawn from the 34 local governments of the state took part in the primaries held at the Secretariat of the party in Katsina.
