This development was officially communicated to the government through the Gombe Geographic Information System (GOGIS) via a letter dated September 19th, 2023, and signed by the Director General of the Agency, Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi.

Both awards, as explained by Dr. Arabi, were sequel to a nationwide nomination and online voting process initiated on radio,  television and newspaper publications.

Dr. Arabi stated that the award for Gombe is a testament to the state’s unwavering commitment to advancing GovTech initiatives and digital governance through the Gombe Geographic Information System.

Gombe State is to receive the awards during an event tagged ‘Awards Presentation Dinner’ which will be the  major highlight of the two-day Nigeria GovTech Conference scheduled for October 12th-13th, 2023, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Land administration is one aspect where the government of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has recorded remarkable achievements. Land, as a critical factor of production got Inuwa’s attention as the Governor has radically digitalised the land system to aid development of Gombe.

The government has also upgraded the existing aerial photographs and geographical maps of Gombe state by producing high resolution (GIS) imagery to enable clear identification of property boundary for the ease of application and issuance of digital certificate of Occupancy.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya has always emphasized the importance of digitalizing land administration, underscoring its role in improving urban planning, and supporting modern ICT and critical infrastructural development as well as environmental sustainability in the state.
