We are poise to put North West on economically independent map – El-Rufai, Masari

The seven Governors of the North West States of Nigeria said they are poised to put the region on the map of economically independent states in the country utilizing the agriculture sub sector which the states are rich in.
Speaking after their meeting in Kaduna Sunday, the Chairman of the Forum and Kastina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari said the highlights of the plans would come more in the details of what they are going to put in place, the structures to actualize the dreams and aspirations of the region.
He revealed that they took briefings from African Development Bank (ADB), Central bank of Nigeria (CBN), NEXIM Bank, Bank of Industry (BOI), Bank of Agriculture (BOA) among others.
Also speaking, Governor Nasir Ahmad El-rufai of Kaduna State said in addition to discussing agric in the North West, they took reports from committee of experts set up to revive the economy of the seven states.
This includes the seven Governors, experts and financial institutions that are lending in the agric sector, discuss their reports and recommendations on how to revive, boost and promote agric in the states, El-rufai added.
Asked on the reservation of the populace about such meetings, El-rufai said they are new party and governors of change, and “throughgout the North West, the seven Governors are All Progressive Congress (APC). We have made commitments to President Buhari that we will do whatever it takes to improve the lots of our people. I am confident, with the commitment of my colleague Governors, we will make a difference this time around.”
He explained that agric produce such as ginger, cotton, beniseed, grains among others were top on the discussion.
