IN his personal efforts to ensure a healthy and malaria pandemic free environment in Sokoto metropolis, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has launched a fumigation exercise in Sokoto North Senatorial District.

This year’s  exercise which is billed to cover three local government areas of Wamakko, Sokoto North and Sokoto South respectively.

According to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashar Abubakar, it is an annual gesture by the former Sokoto State Governor.

The acting Permanent Secretary,  Ministry of Basic Education, Sokoto State, Alhaji Al-Mustapha Abubakar Alkali who represented the lawmaker at the launch, said the gesture by the former governor is to bolster the eradication of the recurring malaria pandemic in the state.

Similarly, Wamakko according to Alkali, described the 2023 exercise as efforts for one big family which he said the past People’s Democratic Party (PDP)-led government in the state tried to truncate for egocentric political reasons, while disclosing that the present All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration in the state has  same undying passion of providing quality healthcare services to the needy and the generality of the people of the Sokoto State.

Wamakko also expressed confidence that, the Ahmed Aliyu-led government will support the programme to ensure a statewide  coverage for the benefit of all.

He recalled that the immediate past administration in the state abandoned its responsibility to cater for the dire needs of the citizens in many sectors of human endeavors.

The lawmaker further  called on the benefiting communities to support the programme to ensure its success, while hoping that the fumigation exercise would help reduce the breeding and spread of  mosquitoes in the areas designed for coverage.

Also, APC Chairman, Sokoto North Local Government Area, Alhaji Almustapha Tsoho Kwandawa, appreciated Wamakko for sponsoring the exercise which he said will assist towards eradicating the menace of malaria in their domains.
