The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has charged institutions of Higher Learning to offer only courses that will  provide job opportunities to their graduates.

He gave the charge when he received Management of Evangel University, Akaeze,  Ebonyi State.

He said it will be a wasted effort on the part of graduates if they are unable to secure jobs after  school,  saying it will make them constitute  burden to their families and the Society.

“It is not proper to give admission to someone whose job opportunities are not in the labour market.

“I am very particular about the quality of graduates our institutions produce. If Evangel University decides to distinguish themselves by producing very productive graduates the society will at times desire to get or employ, it will make them exceptional,” he said.

He reiterated his administration’s quest to work with stakeholders to improve the standard of education in the state.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Iche Kalu said they were in the Governor’s  Office to inform him of his nomination for the award of  Doctor of Science, honoris causa  by the University Senate.

“At the 94th regular meeting of the Senate of the Evangel University, it was resolved that you will be awarded the  Doctor of Science, honoris causa during the 2nd to 3rd Convocation ceremony slated for March, 16th this year. This is in consideration of your track records. We watched  the way you piloted the affairs  of the State Assembly as Speaker and later by the grace of God you were  elected chief executive of the state. We felt you merited this award and that is our purpose of coming,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor used the visit to congratulate the Governor on his victory at the Supreme Court.
