A Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry at the University of Ibadan, Professor Opeyemi Isaac Ajewole was on Monday night, killed by unknown gunmen in Ibadan
New Nigerian gathered that Professor Ajewole was shot dead by the unknown gunmen while on his way home in the Moniya area of Ibadan.
It was learnt that the unknown gunmen after shooting Professor Ajewole dead took his car away to an unknown destination.
Our correspondent gathered that Professor Ajewole corpse has been deposited at UI Anatomy as at the time of sending this story.
Contacted, the University of Ibadan Principal Assistant Registrar, Public Communications, Mrs Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the incident, saying, “Yes, it is true. But we are not sure if it is armed robbers or hired assassins.He was killed yesterday. The incident happened yesterday”
Contacted, Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso, said that the command is presently investigating the matter.
” The matter is under investigation. Updates would be provided accordingly, please”.
