Accord Party governorship candidate in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has disclosed that he was schemed out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship race  by those allegedly conspiring  against the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the party’s Presidential candidate .

Featuring on Fresh FM 105.9, Ibadan programme ” South West Political circuit” on Saturday, Chief Adelabu said his closeness with Asiwaju Tinubu was perceived as his major offence

Specifically, the Accord Party governorship candidate in Oyo state for the 2023 general elections said he was schemed out of APC allegedly by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, the Oyo State APC  Congress Chairman, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi and Senator Teslim Folarin.

The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)  deputy governor declared that on sensing the alleged conspiracy against him by the alleged APC Chieftains, he has no other option than to withdraw from the APC primary election in Oyo state with the clear departure from the tradition of the party and brazen illegality.

“Let me say categorically that I was robbed of the ticket because of my relationship with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Five Senators conspired to install  Lawan as APC presidential candidate. The five senators are Senate President, Sen. Ahmed Lawan, APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, APC National Secretary, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, Sen. Tokunbo Afikuyomi and Sen. Teslim Folarin.”, he said.

Chief Adelabu added, “they installed Folarin knowing full well that I wont work against the candidature of Tinubu and anyone who emerges the governorship candidate will be in control of delegates from the state”.

Emphasizing that as at present, there was no APC governorship primaries in Oyo state because it was conducted against the INEC rules, Chief Adelabu said ” the letter and notice given to INEC was that the primary election will take place on Thursday, May 26 at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.

“At 6pm on that Thursday, the election was postponed, venue changed and additional venue was picked. This is illegal and not in consonance with the dictates of the Electoral Act 2022 as amended. Whoever emerges from the primary of the following day is illegal.”

On his defection to the Accord Party, Chief Adelabu said he informed Asiwaju Tinubu before leaving APC  for Accord party and that his relationship with Asiwaju Tinubu goes beyond politics.
