Tension as mob loot shi’ites shops in Kaduna


Angry mob had a field day as they loot goods belonging to members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria known as shiites at Unguwar Ma’azu a suburb of Kaduna metropolis.
According to a source in the area, the youth are moved from shop to shop carting away property and money from the shops belonging to shi’ites owners as no secutity agents were present to stop them.
Other shop owners who are not shi’ites members were watching helplessly as they coundn’t stop the youths who were in their hundreds desplaying dengerous weapons such as knives, daggers and sticks.
“As we speak people are closing their shops because the youths are looting shops belonging to Shi’ites members. They broke into some of the shops under lock and took away the goods. No security agencies present to arrest them,” he said via phone. It was also gathered that the youth also attacked residence of one Alhaji Ibrahim a shittes member residing at Kinkinau and looted all important property in the house.
Contacted, State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Aliyu Usman gave  warning to trouble makers, saying anybody caught taking law into his hand would be arrested. The State government recently described Islamic Movement in Nigeria as an unlawful society.
