Tears As 4 Persons Killed By Gunmen Are Laid To Rest In Ebonyi

The people of Ekpaomaka Community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State were on Thursday, thrown into mourning as the bodies of four relatives of the council chairman who were assassinated by unknown gunmen were laid to rest.

The incident which occurred on  May 17, 2022, claimed the lives of four persons whose names were given as, Mr. Egwu Origwu (75yrs), Chigbogu Orogwu (26yrs), Sunday Orogwu (19yrs), and Mr. Kelechi Nwuji (27yrs).

In their separate speeches, the first son of one of the the deceased, Dr. Uchenna Orogwu described his late father as a great hero who loves to help those around him and has contributed enormously to the development of their community and the entire Ikwo Local Government Area. He prayed God to grant their souls eternal rest.

The Executive chairman of Ikwo LGA, Elder Stephen Orogwu in his tribute, said that his late brother was an industrialist who loved peace and unity and will always be remembered for his legacies in their community.

The  Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Eric Kelechi Igwe lamented bitterly over the ugly incident, calling on security agencies to do everything possible to arrest and prosecute all those behind the dastardly act.

The solemn burial attracted people from all walks of life who came to sympathize with the deceased family.
