A suspected lunatic in Kisi town, Oyo State identified as Monday Daniel is in police net over the killing of a 8 month old baby and four other members of a family of seven.
It was gathered that the 26year-old suspected lunatic on Sunday set a house where members of a family of seven were living on fire during which five of them comprising of an eight month old baby, three children aged 3,6 and 10 as well as their 46-year-old mother Ogunma Ogbada were completely burnt to ashes.
New Nigerian learnt that two others identified as. Samuel Daniel Ode, 24 and Mariam Samuel Ode, 21 however survived and are now receiving treatment at the Muslim Hospital, Kisi in Orire local government area of Oyo state.
Sources said trouble started at about 2.35am on Sunday at Budo Alaka village, Kisi while members of the family were sleeping when the suspected lunatic set the house on fire.
The suspected lunatic was said to had on Saturday solicited for financial assistance from a member of the family to enable him travel to an undisclosed destination but that the said member of the family turned down his request.
Sources said the 26 years old man however stormed the house again in the early hours of Sunday and set the thatch roof house on fire after which he escaped from the scene.
The suspected lunatic was later arrested by the police following a tip off by neighbours of the victims and that during interrogation, Monday Daniel confessed to the crime claiming that he did not know what came over him.
Reliable Police source however hinted that the suspected lunatic’s case will soon be transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Iyaganku in Ibadan for further investigations.
