Supreme Court in Abuja has affirmed Mr. Lawal Adamu as authentic candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Kaduna Central Senatorial candidate for the February 25 general election.
The five-member panel of legal luminaries headed by Justice Simeone Okoro on Friday February 17, ruled that Mr. Adamu widely known as Mr. LA was the duly elected candidate and winner of the party’s primary election.
The apex court argued that Hon. Usman Ibrahim Sardaunan Badarawa who hitherto was parading self as PDP candidate shouldn’t have been pronounced winner of the second primary election held in error.
The bench of Judges further added that PDP was not fair to Mr. LA by submitting the name of Sardaunan Badarawa to the election umpire.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was accordingly ordered by the nation’s Court of highest jurisdiction to recognize Mr.LA as authentic candidate of PDP in the interest of justice and rule of law.
When contacted by New Nigerian Newspapers for response, the campaign camp of Sardaunan Badarawa hinted that an official statement in that regard would be issued soon, adding that the politician as a firm believer in democracy entrenched in rule of law and above all a loyal party member shall take a noble stand.
