Lagos State Government has been asked to curb the activities of area boys who are harassing the people of the state who are doing their legitimate businesses daily.

Members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, made the request in a communique issued at the end of their November 2022 Congress which was held at the council’s new ultra-modern Secretariat at Ikeja on Saturday.

The  reporters described the activities of the area boys as shameful.

The Congress advised the federal and state governments to expedite action on the rehabilitation of  the bad portion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, because of the agony motorists using the road have been going through for months.

The union also noted that the slow pace of work on the road has led to huge economic and man-hour losses.

The union urged the Head of Parks Management in Lagos State, Mr Musiliu Akinsanya, to dialogue with drivers over the sudden hike in transport fare across the state, noting that government has not officially increased the price of fuel.

The journalists said that some fuel stations are currently selling between N230 and N300, in spite of the fact that fuel is available.  This, they stated, is not good for the country’s  economy.
