Sports Promotes Togetherness, Says SWAN VP, Jibo Zakari

Zonal Vice President of the North East Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Malam Jibo Zakari has said that the association would continue to improve the spirit of togetherness by organizing  games as a unifying factor, between the media industry in the country.

Malam Jibo Zakari, gave this indication during the awards presentation ceremony organized by the State SWAN in Bauchi, held at the Development Exchange Centre (DEC) conference hall, Saturday where he expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the weeklong event

The Zonal Vice President reiterated the commitment of the National leadership of the Association towards supporting sporting activities in the. country.

Also speaking, Bauchi State SWAN Chairman, Mahmud Ibn Muhammad said the association in Bauchi deemed it necessary to organize the trophy games, after a long period of six years without conducting sporting activities in the state.

Muhammad however charged sport writers in the state to work with the ethical standard of Journalists while reporting sports, as the association would not relent in improving the synergy between their members and security personnel for harmonious coexistence.

Chairman Ibn Muhammad commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for their philanthropic efforts and contributions to the success of SWAN weeklong activities in the state.

Other events of the SWAN week are Badminton won by Abubakar Musa Waziri of Globe FM Bauchi for taking first position, and Ado Hazad of the Correspondents’ Chapel and Mahmud Ibn Muhammad from NTA Bauchi, came second and third positions respectively.

On Table Tennis game, Timothy Ijiya of NTA Bauchi and Ibrahim Tofa from Globe FM and Kani Ben of the Correspondents’ came first, second and third positions respectively in the game.

While on Scrabble game, Armstrong Bakam of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yohana Yakubu BATV and Yakubu Muhammad FRCN came first, second and third positions.
