*Alleges insubordination.

The Seriki Hausawa of Ibadanland, Alhaji Ali Dairu Zungeru on Wednesday, slammed an indefinite suspension on the Seriki in Sasa area of Ibadan, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin.
Addressing his Chiefs and some other prominent Hausa people in his palace at Mokola area of Ibadan, the Seriki Hausawa of Ibadanland accused the Seriki Sasa of alleged insubordination.
Alhaji Zungeru said the indefinite suspension of the Seriki Sasa was as a result of his alleged activities saying, “the activities of Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin, is becoming unbearable and if not quickly checked, can lead to crisis”.
According to the Seriki Hausawa, “The activities of Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin, who is calling himself Seriki Sasa is becoming unbearable and if not quickly check it can lead to crisis.
“To start with, Ibadanland has only one Seriki Hausawa, which is me, Alhaji Ali Dairu Sungeru. In 1982, then Seriki Hausawa Alhaji Shuaibu Diko granted the request of Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin and installed him as Mengeruwa, which is equivalent to Baales, that’s community leader. He has no power to install or give chieftaincy title to anyone”, he said.
The Seriki Hausawa added, “Recently , Alhaji Mayasin wrote petition against me and my council to the Commissioner of Police, we were invited by CP and stated our own side of the story, the CP directed us to go and write statement at Iyaganku State Criminal Investigation Department. That all of us should not do anything that can truncate the peace of the state.
“Secondly, I am the sole authority who can appoint Mengeruwa to any community that merits it in Ibadanland ,and I had appointed Alhaji Ado Sulaimion as the Mengeruwa of Akinyele, in Akinyele Local Government Area, but Haruna Maiyasin had gone to appoint another person. Also, I have been duly informed that he was planning to install more Chiefs, so before he causes crisis, I have decided to suspend him indefinitely over insubordination.”
Alhaji Zungeru maintained, “we were very good in trading, especially, in kolanut, cow, clothes, and so on. In recognition of our contributions, the Olubadan of Ibadanland in 1949, gave us here, Mokola as our Sabo community, not that alone, Kabiyesi also approved the appointment of the Seriki Hausawa of Ibadanland which I, Alhaji Ali Dairu Sungeru is the fifth to be on the throne.
“Hausas and Yorubas particularly the Ibadan have been living in peace ,we have three thousand of our son’s and daughters that had married Yorubas. Me that am the Seriki Hausawa today was born and brought up in Ibadan here. So me and my council can never allow anyone to truncate the peace of Ibadan, because if there is crisis in Ibadan it will escalate to the entire Southwest if not entire Nigeria”.
New Nigerian recalls that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun last week, said only the Seriki Hausawa of Ibadanland has the recognition of his authority as the head of the Hausa community in the entire ancient metropolis.
