While praising Nigeria’s President Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his public declaration of fairness to all, a group,  the Northern Youth Progressive Initiative has endorsed the candidature of Senator Godswill Akpabio for Senate President.

The group expressed this at a press briefing held on Saturday May 6, 2023 in Kaduna, with the text of briefing read by its President, Honourable Usman Shehu Aliyu, Danmalikin Hausa.

“We praise the President Elect for vocally expressing his wish for equity, justice and fairness to all

nigerians irrespective of region, religion, tribe or ethnicity, with these, the youth progressive initiative in the North, align and endorse the choice of Sen. Godwill

Akpabio as the 10th president of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Sen. Jibril Barau as the Deputy President of the 10th Senate,” he said.

According to him, “Nigeria  belongs to everybody and we have six zones, hence the need to zone Senate Presidency.

“The President elect assured Nigerians that his administration will be fair

“We want all regions in the country to be carried along in the leadership of NASS”.

He stressed that in view of the above, they  want the Senate Presidency to go to the South and the Deputy Senate Presidency to the North West.

“With this, every geo-political zone will be carried along,” he pointed out.

Fielding questions on the clamour for the Senate Presidency by other regions, he said, “North  West of course gave the highest vote,  but  for fairness, we want Nigeria to be for Nigerians, let everyone have a sense of belonging

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu calculates, he is an achiever and wants to carry everybody along.

“We are talking about Nigeria, we are talking about fairness and equity.

He said the Youth Progressive Initiative in The North congratulates all Nigerians  more for the just concluded general elections, specifically the President Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Vice President Elect, Sen. Kashim Shettima.

“We reiterate our support towards their success, the Youth Progressive Initiative in the North, thanks Nigerians for their patriotism before and after the
