As part of effort by the Prof. Musa Garba Maitafsir-led administration as Director and Chief Executive of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, to migrate the Institute’s programmes to blended method of Open Distance Learning (ODL), using e-facilitation, the institute through its department of Quality Assurance and ICT has conducted a two-day capacity building development training between May 2 and 3, which was held at the Institute’s headquarters in Kaduna.

Declaring the workshop open, the Director and Chief Executive of NTI, Prof. Musa Garba Maitafsir , who was represented by NTI Director of Examinations, Dr. Bashir Mamman , said prior to this day, the Institute delivered programmes through the traditional face to face method of ODL, since the inception of the Bachelor Degree programmes in 2015.

‘’ Now the Institute is migrating to blended method of ODL e-facilitation, where the facilitation will be both offline and online method of delivery,’’ he said.

The Director and Chief Executive tasked the participants to use the opportunity and explore innovative strategies in addressing potential challenges in the delivery.

Also speaking at the workshop, the Ag. Director, Department of Quality Assurance and ICT, Dr. Angela Ozibo, having appreciated the Chief Executive for his support in making the training a reality, said the train-the-trainer workshop will ensure that all the Institute’s facilitators are trained on the e-facilitation and likewise the students to be trained on e-learning nationwide.

According to Dr. Mamman, the Chief Executive has expressed satisfaction, seeing that all the resource persons-cum e-facilitators are staff of NTI.

“These e-facilitators are expected to train the Course Facilitators on e-facilitation and the students on e-learning at all NTI Study Centres nationwide,’’ he stressed.

At the end of the training, the trained e-facilitators are deployed to all states of the federation and study centres to cascade the training.

By this development, all NTI students are to be sensitized and advised to effectively utilize the Institute’s portal. On this, the Institute is starting with its Bachelor Degree programmes now, then later other programmes.
