Senator Godiya Akwashiki (Nasarawa North) has denied allegation that he bribed the suspended Chairman of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Nasarawa State, Mr Bishop Mathew Namo.

The lawmaker had been accused by one Mr. John Mark in connection with the illegal substitution of his name as candidate of YPP for Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency.

According to Mark in a statement on Wednesday, Akwashiki bribed the suspended YPP Chairman with ₦3.5 million to substitute his name as the party’s candidate for one Andrew Tuga Grace whose name appeared in the final list of INEC for the 2023 general elections.

Reacting however, the Lawmaker described the allegation of bribing as handiwork of mischief makers.

He made this known while addressing newsmen urging Mr John Mark to withdraw the allegation and tender apology or face legal action.

“To put the record straight, I am not a member of YPP, I have no any business with YPP as a political party not to talk of its candidate.

“This is the handiwork of mischief makers, who are bent in causing confusion and disuntiy over my growing popularity.

“I want to urge my teeming supporters and the general public to disregard the report in its totality as it has no iota of truth”, the Lawmaker said.

Akwashiki said that he would not be dettered by activities of mischief makers while pledging to continue to provide good and purposeful representation for his constituents and Nigerians at large.

“I will continue to represent my people well  beyond 2023, if given another mandate.

“The people of Nasarawa North are all aware of what I have done and still doing in the area of health, education, roads, electricity, agriculture, employment and empowerment among others.

“I will sustain my good work at the National Assembly in order to continue to change the lives of my people beyond 2023 positively,” he added.

Akwashiki solicited for continued support and prayers from all and sundry to enable him succeed.
