SDGs: FG Commends Kaduna Govt

The Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has said that it identifies the giant strides of Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, CON the economic team and the entire people of the state on laudable achievements on the SDGs in the state and felicitate with His Excellency.

In her goodwill message, the Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. (Dr.) Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, CON at the Kaduna State 2022 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit 2.0 and commissioning of 100 Number Bed Mother and Child Centre (MCC) Holding at Dandaura, Kauru LGA, Kaduna State.

According to her, “I am pleased to deliver this goodwill message at this auspicious event of the Kaduna State 2022 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit 2.0 and Commissioning of 100 No. Bed Mother and Child Centre (MCC).

“No doubt, Kaduna State at the subnational level, is taking the lead on achieving the SDGs. The significant successes recorded in health, education, employment, access to potable water and electricity in this regards are evident. The huge investment is salutary.

“The convening of this summit with the presence of very top echelons in Nigeria, including the development partners, bears eloquent testimony to the avowed commitment by Governor Malam Nasir el-Rufai to improve the lives and well-being of Kaduna State citizens.

“Your Excellencies, Royal Fathers, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, I am persuaded to apprise you of the achievements in realising the SDGs at the federal level with the support of Nigeria’s development partners.

“Key amongst them, is the development of an innovative SDGs model which is a cutting-edge tool that helps us to monitor and track progress towards achieving the SDGs.

“This model is designed to align our efforts with the global agenda, and ensure that we are making the most impactful interventions.

“In terms of food security, the Federal Government in collaboration with the UN agencies and other stakeholders, have developed food systems transformation pathways for Nigeria to ensure that our citizens have access to nutritious and sustainable food sources.

“We have begun the implementation of these pathways at both the national and sub-national levels of government. In addition, recognizing the 2021-2022 as the decade of action for accelerating the achievement of SDGs.

“The Federal Government has revised the National Social Protection Policy, including the implementation plan and monitoring and evaluation framework in order to prioritize the most important interventions and track our progress more effectively.

“Importantly, the National Development Plan 2021-2025, which is Nigeria’s road-map for achieving the SDGs and creating a better future for all Nigerians, we are implementing this plan conscientiously with focus on addressing poverty, promoting economic growth, and development.

“The Kaduna State and other sub-national governments and wide spectra of stakeholders participated in its development.

“Your Excellencies, Honourable Speaker, Royal Fathers, Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, in ending this message, let me express my gratitude to all those who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible and also pray for the success of the 100-Bed Mother and Child Centre at Dandaura.

“I wish to state that the Federal Government with our development partners, are irrevocably committed to supporting the Kaduna State Government in improving the lives and well-being of its citizens through the SDGs.”
