The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zone B on Friday, urged the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resolve their lingering crisis and end the ongoing  strike.
NUJ Zone B stated this in a communique issued at the end of its zonal meeting held at the Osun State NUJ Press Centre, Osogbo.
According to the union, the time has come for the Federal Government and ASUU to adopt the give and take policy in resolving the prolonged strike embarked upon by the Universities lecturers nationwide.
NUJ Zone B maintained that a situation whereby the Federal Government and the ASUU should stick to their guns will never be in the interest of the students, their parents and the country education sector.
” The NUJ Zone B expressed displeasure with the prolonged ASUU strike and strike by SSANU and NASU, urging both government and the university lecturers/staff to dialogue and resolve the impasse in the interest of the students and in view of its consequences on the education sector”, it said

On the state of insecurity in the country,  NUJ Zone B appealing to government at all levels to take pragmatic steps towards putting an end to the situation lauded the great contributions of Amotekun Corps towards reducing crimes in the Southwest
NUJ Zone B then tasked other geo-political zones of the country to adopt the security format so as to keep the country safe.

Also, in the communique, the NUJ Zone B commended the NUJ National President, Chief Chris Iziguzo for the frantic efforts put in place towards resolving the prolonged crisis rocking the Ogun state NUJ ” most importantly the just concluded screening of members of the council.”
The union then urged the NUJ National Secretariat to constitute members of Credential Committee to conduct fresh election as soon as possible in line with the Constitution since the three years tenure of the election that resulted into the dispute had elapsed.
