The death of an undergraduate student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso on Monday is now causing tension in the town.
New Nigerian gathered that the undergraduate was reportedly shot dead at a popular lounge in the town by a yet be identified person.
Two other students of the university were said to have sustained injuries during the confusion at the lounge and the situation, resulting to protest today by students of the university
New Nigerian learnt that the confusion reared its head few hours after the commencement of the 2024 Convocation ceremony of the institution held at the university main campus on Monday following a heated disagreement among the students at the lounge
The owner of the lounge was said to have alerted the security agents for intervention with the dimension the disagreement was assuming.
Upon their arrival, the security agents reportedly in attempt to scare away the students from the trouble spot shot into the air during which one of the students was reportedly hit by the bullet leaving two others injured
Early Tuesday, some students of the University embarked on protest over the death of their colleague, barricading the roads in the vicinity as well as locked the entrance to the institution demanding justice for the deceased and the Two others with injuries
Contacted, Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) SP Adewale Osifeso declared that the Command has commenced investigation into the matter, saying, “Investigation is ongoing. Updates would be provided accordingly please”.
